Michael Smith's 88 Fiero GT
Michael Smith's 88 Fiero GT
Currently under construction.
The basics:
88GT Black, bought in 12/96 with 100K miles on it for $5200. Third owner.
5 Speed. Factory subwoofer. Moonroof.
EXTRAS:
Kenwood KRC (???) stereo
Pioneer 3-way 4/10" speakers
Viper alarm
WRD RT rims, 16x7.5" with 205s all around
Recaro Driver's seat (soon to change)
Cut shorter and re-threaded pre-87 5-sp shift lever
Stock manifolds cleared of obstructions
ACCELL big coil
(had) FOCOA chip, for "better advance curve" turns out it's a non Ca. 88 chip...
total snakeoil--no performance advantages at all.
Ocelot 2" exhaust system and tips from Fiero Store
Ryane Motorsports coil-over conversion, including:
AVO/HAL 12-point adjustable shocks and struts
325 pound springs
Ryane 1.5" lowering spindles up front--maintains proper geometry when dropping front end.
Ryane replacement A-arms up front, same 88 geometry, just stronger and adapted for coil-over install.
(AVO specifies a strong 1/2" bolt to hold the coilover shock--it's a big load)
Stock rear links and all sway bars.
Prothane Urethane bushings everywhere
The above Ryane setup is worth about $2400. U.S.
Installing Ryane's steel braided brake lines soon, since I plan to get Wildwood brakes (compatible),
and the stock lines in front are JUST a bit short when using the drop spindles and
adjusted caliper placement (for clearance under the wheel).
Planned mods:
Wildwood 4-caliper racing brakes (Ryane)
10 or 11" wide custom rims in back (with flares)
engine mods, may include aluminum 3.0L chevy bowtie I have in parts.
turbo???
designing myself:
rebody of my design based loosely on an IMSA GT (have another 88 GT body)
real sunroof (not a moonroof--which is what the glass roof is), solid color with no attatchment studs on top
smaller competition style steering wheel with Fiero billet (almost finished)
repaint...
